The United Nations touches the lives of people everywhere. From peacekeeping operations to ending some of the world's most intractable conflicts; from action to assist victims of disaster, to activities to protect human rights and advance international law; this site chronicles the vast work of the United Nations system

UN Publications

The newly redesigned website will allow you to search the UN's catalogue of over 4,800 titles by subject, keyword, title, ISBN, Publisher, Series, Department, Language and Date. The new site also features a shopping cart and online payment system for easier processing of orders.

Official website locator for the United Nations system

This site serves as a portal to websites of the United Nations, its funds and programmes, and specialized agencies. It also includes links to key projects and initiatives and to various joint programmes of the UN system. These websites are administered by their respective organizational units.

Main Bodies of the UN

This site identifies the main bodies that make up the UN: The General Assembly and the Security Council, the Regional Commissions of the Economic and Social Council; and the work of the Trusteeship Council and the Secretariat and the International Court of Justice. Also on this site are links to an Organizational Chart of the UN and Membership of the Principal UN organs.

Member States

This site chronicles the changes in UN membership from its inception to the current membership of 191 member States. Also includes contact information for Permanent missions in New York, Geneva and Vienna and for non-member states, i.e. Permanent Observer Missions at UN Headquarters.

United Nations Information Centres

A site created and maintained by the Information Centres Service, Department of Public information, highlighting the work of the network of RUNICs, UNICs, UNIS, and UNOs with people around the world. Located in 77 countries, these field offices help local communities obtain up-to-date information on the Organization and its activities.

Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Section

The NGO Section of DPI serves as the liaison between the Department and NGOs associated with DPI. These organizations disseminate information about the UN to their constituencies, thereby building knowledge of and support for the Organization at the grassroots level. Currently, close to 1,400 NGOs from all regions of the world are associated with DPI.

United Nations Associations

The UN has garnered the support of people across the globe. Many come together in a network called United Nations Associations in order to support and further the objectives of the UN. The World Federation of United Nations Associations are global network of hundreds of thousands of people linked together through United Nations Associations in over 100 member states of the UN.

CyberschoolBus

The United Nations Cyberschoolbus offers informative and interactive educational materials to a global audience. Within the Cyberschoolbus site there are a number of activities and projects that teach students about global issues in an interactive, engaging and fun way.
