August:

NEW YORK, 24 August (UN Headquarters) -- Newly-appointed Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, Cheikh Sidi Diarra, arrives in Ulaanbatar, Mongolia, on Monday 27 th August 2007 to attend a thematic meeting on international trade and trade facilitation, which will be preceded by a ministerial meeting of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs). >> more

April:

Geneva, Switzerland – On 23 April, 2007, the World Health Organization (WHO) will launch a report entitled Youth and Road Safety on the occasion of the First United Nations Global Road Safety Week (23-29 April, 2007). The report contains new data on the impact of road crashes on young people. Dedicated to “young road users,” who constitute a major risk group for death, injury, and disability from traffic crashes, the Week is part of a worldwide bid to raise awareness about the lack of safety for children and young adults on roads.

  • Jamaica: UNESCO and CARICOM host Caribbean Launch of the 2007 Global Monitoring Report on Early Childhood Care and Education

The UNESCO Office for the Caribbean, in partnership with the CARICOM Secretariat, will launch the Education for All Global Monitoring Report 2007 on December 6, 2006 in Kingston, Jamaica. >> more

  • Port of Spain: Launch of SG's Report on Niolence Against Children

The launch of the SG's report on violence against children will take place on the 17 November at 10.00 a.m. at the Ambassador Hotel, 9 Long Circular Road, Port of Spain

  • UNCTAD to Launch Information Economy Report 2006

Bangkok (United Nations Information Services) -- UNCTAD's Information Economy Report 2006 will be launched by Dr. Susan Teltscher, Chief, ICT Policy and Analysis Unit and E-Business Branch, SITE of UNCTAD and co-author of the Report on Thursday, 16 November 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok

October 2006:

  • INVITATION TO DEVELOPING COUNTRY JOURNALISTS

Special Program for Journalists during United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 12)

As part of our mission to provide support to journalists from developing countries, COM+ is pleased to invite you to participate in a special program of activities for journalists at the upcoming United Nations Framework Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP12, and the second
meeting of the parties to the Kyoto Protocol, to be held in Nairobi.

COM+ will host a series of activities on November 13th - 15th for journalists at the COP, including training programs on the evolution of the carbon market and adaptation to climate change on November 13th and 14th.
In addition, COM+ has organized one/one interviews on November 15th with Katherine Sierra, Vice President for Sustainable Development at the World Bank, Achim Steiner, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and Monique Barbut, Chief Executive Officer of the Global Environment Facility (GEF). There will also be a field trip to a World Bank project site outside of Nairobi the afternoon of that day.

If you are interested in attending, COM+ will cover the costs of airfare, hotel, and per diem for 5 days so that you will be able to cover the Ministerial segment of the UN Climate Change Conference.

  • UNICEF to launch Secretary General's Study on Violence Against Children

UNICEF is planning the Launch of the UN Secretary General's  Study on Violence Against Children.  It is proposed to have separate launches in Tobago on Thursday, November 16th in collaboration with the Tobago House of Assembly and on Friday, November 17th, in Trinidad in collaboration with the Ministy of the Social Development.

  • United Nations Day 2006

On the occasion of the United Nations 61 st Anniversary you are cordially invited to get to know your United Nations better. The United Nations System in Trinidad and Tobago will be hosting three days of activities in the lead-up to the 61 st Anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. Founded by 51 States in 1945 the membership has swelled to the current 192 Member States.
